A Snip in Time ?

4 leaves of the apocalypse ?

can't bring myself to caption it

These pictures were taken last Friday or Saturday.
They are from a selection of leaves and branches that I pruned off about 6 or so of my tomato plants.

The leaves did not look like this the previous day. It rained very heavily overnight whilst I tossed and turned and dreamt of waking in the morning to the tomato equivalent of a Mad Max landscape .

The reality turned out not to be quite that bad or mad BUT there was an unwelcome development which was the change to some leaves on some plants .

So I just snipped them all off.

You know in that way when small children play peekaboo and think that if they can’t see you, you can’t see them, I thought that if I didn’t acknowledge or blog about it ( I have form on this, I wrote about BER; the theory, the practical got delivered soon afterwards !) then somehow it hadn’t actually happened.

And for nearly a week there have been no further signs of anything amiss.

Then last night we had around 100ml of rain and this morning I’ve had to remove another bin bag full of leaves. Some only have tiny indicators but I’m not taking chances.

And have you noticed that I can’t actually bring myself to name what I think taps my tomato plants on the shoulder on rain filled nights. At the same time I know I can’t go on pretending it isn’t happening.

Which is why I was comforted by this post over at The Cottage Small holder where intervention doesn’t promise a cure but can hold it at bay if discovered in the early stages and so far I have got mine within 24 hours of it appearing.

We will see……
