Chicken, Lettuce, Tomato Sandwich

Chicken Lettuce Tomato Sandwich

Chicken, Lettuce, Tomato (CLT somehow just doesn’t work)

This was prompted by the unearthing of a George Foreman Grill that had been idling at the back of a cupboard.

Chicken Escalope, Giorgioed for 4 minutes, popped between two waiting slices of mayoed bread, lettuce and tomato.

You could add avocado but only if you plan your sandwich 4 days in advance. ( Very unspontaneous, the avocado.)

As you’ve probably noticed food styling is not paramount at Tomato Lover. The Sandwich of the Week gets popped on the plate, papped and then having had its turn in the spotlight, it’s lunch.  (Although I’ve learnt to check the photos are uploaded and useable before digesting the props.)

Mayo can be a bit tricky, splodging over the aesthetic but my Hellman’s habit is too engrained to give it up for the sake of art.  Today’s sandwich had the mayo under control but toppled over until invisibly shored up from behind by an egg cup.

Behind every great sandwich there’s an eggcup.

However my homespun attempts interest me in how professionals approach the task so I enjoyed this interview over at mattbites with Susan Spungen, the food stylist on the forthcoming foodie film, Julie & Julia.

Lovely insights into how food and actors were prepped for their roles (no walk on part for Mr Foreman ).

(And if you enjoyed that Matt also got to interview Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Nora Ephron on film and food)

Warned off of any notions of melting cheese I shall be sticking to tomato sandwiches.
