Chilli Cheese Scones with Tomato

Chilli Cheese Scones

With the weather’s throwing its weight about the best response seems to be to ignore it, crank up the oven and throw some flour about instead.

I’m making Cheese and Chilli scones as recommended by an ex-work friend. (A birthday was not considered celebrated unless marked with a generous, crumbly slice of her delicious Courgette Cake).

Along with the recipe recommendation – photos of her own scone masterpieces – with apologies for the quality of the photos – the excuse – they were too delicious to keep trying for the perfect shot.

Finally someone who appreciates the self restraint I show in taking photos of tantalising tomatoes and then uploading them, making sure they’ve taken before tucking in !

Although having now snapped the scones myself I think it’s fair to say that they just probably lack a ‘good’ side.

The recipe comes from Domestic Goddess in Training .
The only tweaks I made were to brush the tops with milk instead of egg and sprinkle some left over grated cheddar over them.

( Oh … and of course stuff with with tomato slices….. but that counts as a natural reflex rather than considered action !)

I’m always amazed, given we are meant to have forsaken home cooking for  watching it on TV whilst eating ready meals how many good food blogs there are out there, all cooked and written by home cooks.

Thanks to J for trialling and recommending.
Any chance of top trumping your Courgette Birthday Cake with a Tomato one next year ?
