Drum Roll…

by Sally on October 29, 2010

So…I’ve worked my way through each variety in turn – remembering the good times and the bad – Summer Lovin’ from the Tomato Patch…

Now to put it all together in a list.

First, those to which I have to say thank you but goodbye:

  • Apero
  • Beefmaster
  • Belriccio
  • Big Boy Hybrid
  • Brandywine
  • Conchita
  • Elegance
  • Ferline
  • Green Zebra
  • Mini Belle
  • Pomona
  • Purple Cherokee
  • Rosada
  • Snowberry

Those in bold are those that I would love to have back if Iowned acres of land – and could plant rows of tomatoes as far as the eye could see. They are all worthy of being planted into soil and nutured. If you’re looking for recommendations, these varieties would be in my list of those worth giving pot or bed space to.

And then two on the cusp. Strong contenders – which will take their place in a beauty parade, a spot of comparitive shopping (or rather catalogue browsing) to be done and if I think there is something similar that sounds fun I’ll give it a go. Otherwise they will return :

  • Black Cherry
  • Floridity

And then those without whom no garden party or tomato picking would be complete. It will be a while;  frosts, winds, rains, gales, snow and the possibility of Ann Widdecombe winning a dance competition, all stand between now and when you will appear again – but I will be waiting !

  • Gardeners Delight
  • Lemon Tree
  • San Marzano
  • Santorange
  • Sungold
  • Tigerella
  • Yellow Balconi

So having settled that, the doors are now wide open for 2011 to bring in the new. Recommendations and suggestions very welcome !
