Ferline, Legend and Golden Sunrise

by Sally on July 27, 2010

Linda, who I interviewed a few weeks ago, was growing Ferline and Legend, both blight resistant varieties in her garden along with one plant of Golden Sunrise. So I popped back to see how her tomatoes were ripening. Nicely !

The top picture is of a truss of Ferline. When green they have a high shine and plumped look  – like a cross between a glass eye and a pin cushion.

Here’s one close up:

Below is Legend:

And this is Golden Sunrise:

We also did a taste test which I should have made notes of ! From what I can remember Golden Sunrise was quite jelly like inside, pleasant flavour. Ferline had good flavour but tough skin which if you’re using as a tomato for cooking up sauces from etc isn’t an issue.

Although for Linda top marks for flavour still go to Sungella ( not pictured) which also roasts beautifully.
