Sweet, Juicy, Thin Skinned. The ideal cherry tomato. This Gardeners Delight was picked today at 17.45 – cut, salted and eaten by 17.50. The rest of the truss was still green but this looked and ‘squeezed’ as if it was ready to eat…. and so it was.
It’s understudy is on the other Gardeners Delight.

Yay, congratulations on your first ripe tomato of 2010.
I’m rather jealous – none of my green grape, cream sausage or yellow brandywine are even close to ripening, although one of the brandywines as swollen to a massively mutant fruit that reminds me of those (bear with me, the spelling here will be awful!) kirschklumpen cherry tomatoes. Well done!
Thank you ! A small but very significant moment ! I am going to have to have a Gardeners Delight in my mix every year from now on !
Well you might have had problems with the spelling – but I hadn’t even heard of them – so had to look them up ! So I’ve added another variety to my list of tomatoes to know about – so thank you !
Apart from the Gardeners Delight all other tomatoes are any colour that you like – so long as its green ! However I am hoping that with another heatwave promised that a very intense dose of sun and heat will suddenly speed things up. I do get that feeling that when some start going the rest follow – but of course that may just be wishful thinking ! And with your varieties I’ve just realised it’s not red your hoping for- but presumably the right shade of green, cream and yellow !
