Gardener’s Guilt

by Sally on March 22, 2010

Spring maybe late this year but there’s been an early onset of Gardener’s Guilt.

GG is especially acute on hot summers’ days when I’m sat somewhere, away from home, under a shady umbrella, enjoying a long cool drink, trying to put to the back of my mind the knowledge that my lingering will be causing wilting in the garden.

And crossing my fingers that when I arrive home, the line between turgid and torpid will not have been breached.

However on account of having bought tomato plants early this year but then gone away and left them, with only natural light from a side window to photosynthesize with, GG has set in early.

The reason - plants have put on 10cm of growth – all upwards – in 5 days ! Not the sturdy habit I’d hoped to encourage!
