Growing Tomatoes. Week 22.

week 22

A week of delicious dilemmas.

I’ve picked 4 times. Red Robin and plenty of them joined the ripe and ready list. As did Black Cherry and Alicante albeit in smaller quantities (3 Black Cherry; 2 split and 1 Alicante).
Which means the only varieties that elude capture, chopping and chomping are Moneymaker, Carbon and Roma.  But all are looking a little sun kissed.

If the big, fat, yellow sun of the weather chart keeps shining will this be full house week  ?

The weigh in :

11 aug 09
1.6 kg

13 aug 09

1.4 kg

14 aug 09

623 g

16 aug 09

966 g

But if you want to see a real tomato heavyweight  head to Massachusetts where Daphne’s Dandelions despite losing out to the chipmunks who’ve worked out that tomatillos are a  treat that comes giftwrapped, still manages a great harvest and a tasting table including 3 black varieties.
