 week 27

The past week has seem some heavy downpours mixed with sunny days, sun which, in heat terms, has slid down the Scoville scale but still feels extra special for its late but very welcome appearance.

It’s odd to be picking tomatoes and have their red hue compete with the russet flashes of  the first fallen leaves. Listening to the weather forecast for parts of Wales and Scotland overnight lows of 3c were mentioned and the words ‘touch of frost’ uttered.

However there are still tomatoes to be picked. Sungold is getting on with it no matter what. Other varieties; Alicante, Moneymaker and Black Cherry which have been slow to burn are now getting picked ( although they still have stubborn green fruit) .

Alicante, Moneymaker, Roma

 2.2 kg

Sungold, Gardeners Delight, Black Cherry

1.8 kg

carbon, darby stripe, alicante, moneymaker

2 kg

Black Cherry, Sungold, Gardeners Delight
