A quiet week on the tomato front.
No sowing, no repotting. Just watering now and then and daily weather checks. 2 days were deemed ok ( no heavy showers) for the tomato plants in the 12.7cm pots to be taken outside for Hardening off. Whilst the later sowings, still in their 10cm pots stayed inside .
There may have been more weather days for Hardening off but a long weekend away meant taking decisions about indoor/outdoor status over 4 days ! My neigbour thought they’d be fine outside tucked under the eaves of the house but in the end I came over all risk adverse and it was a Bank Holiday weekend spent indoors for the tomato plants .
This week is already looking better weatherwise. But still no flowers on the plants. I refuse to worry. Yet. However if the plants are still resolutely green and leafy with no signs of yellow flowers by the end of this week then Sunday is going to be declared official panic day !
Meanwhile Tomato ER is being performed on plants that clearly don’t like my care regime. The Moneymaker plants sown on the 16th March had been looking like some of the most robust plants from that sowing until they went out in the garden today. This is what they looked like after 1 hour of sun and breeze. Not happy !
Whisked back in and stuck in a bath of tepid water they recovered.
Not sure my nerves have !

hi,to make tomatoe plants stronger try this.re plant your plant(s) in a bigger pot so you can put compost or your soil mix up to its bottom leaves this will make the plant sturdy and the plant will make allot more roots by doing this.after a few days when the plant is nice and set in the pot gently squese and bend the main stem slightly particularly at the bottom as to harden the stem dont be to gentle but not to hard that you snap the plant.after a week you can put outside and when re planting comes around you can plant right up to the bottom leaves again and the plant will make allot more roots.hope this helps hears a vid if your on youtube become a member thanks. the vid is at this address
