		<description>I got my first &#039;doom&#039; text today. Courtesy of the potato blight service. To tell me that a full Smith period has now been experienced in my area. So spores are no doubt astirring somewhere ! I feel &#039;close leaf scrutiny&#039; coming on. 
Still puts splitting in perspective !!</description>

		<description>Yes, it&#039;s blight season again, as expected. A corespondent on Livejournal who lives near Manchester, reported her potato crop was affected, so it&#039;s probably heading in our direction.  I&#039;m glad we&#039;ve had some rain, but I expect my potato plants, all in the open,  will be zapped by blight any time soon. Time to get the spade out, I think. I hope your fences give a degree of protection from the rain. 

Sorry to read of your splitting woes, at least your split fruits are still edible, although not as decorative as the rest.  They&#039;ll ripen off the vine when the green lightens, you can store them near ripe fruit to quicken ripening.</description>
