Time to take a look at this months’ gardening magazines.
What caught my eye in the July issues :
Grow It !
- No in-depth tomato articles.
But interesting tips on how to make ‘non stinky’ liquid comfrey and in ‘Natural Remedies’ an analysis of the role of natural predators in combating crop and plant destroying nasties. For me, articles like this open up gardening’s larger context and are a good source of ‘must do’s’ going forward.
Grow Your Own.
- ‘All you need to know: Tomatoes’. 3 page article on sowing through to harvesting. Tips for now and one to cut out and keep for next year.
Plus given my confusion on feeding , in ‘Food for Thought’ timely information on what nutrients a plant needs for what, and which the best sources, inorganic and organic, are for these nutrients.
Kitchen Garden.
- A lovely story on the lasting legacy of a tomato and its journey from the Dordogne to Woodbridge in Suffolk . Plus more how to information on brewing Comfrey and Nettle fertilizers.
So plenty to read whilst we wait for the rain to stop!
