One day soon…..

Wonder if Cliff is on board ?

I wonder if you’ve also now rotated through all your footwear ? Dragging out long forgotten boots and finding the one thing they all have in common is no grip. Flail or Fall!

But looking ahead to the melt and striding out with confidence …..

For the remainder of the rawer months perhaps indoors but with an outdoor theme ?

The Museum of Garden History has an exhibition on till March 10th.  ‘The Good Life – 100 years of growing your own’.

And by waiting until the 12th of February it could be a double dig for victory with the Ministry of Food Exhibition which opens at the Imperial War Museum.

And for when it warms up – France perhaps?
This month’s Kitchen Garden magazine features the beautiful kitchen garden of Chateau de Montriou. 14 years of restoration has bought the 1860′s masterpiece back to life.

Its speciality are pumpkins, gourds and marrows which will be at their most impressive later in the season. But for the summer visiting tomato lover,  the French seed company, Vilmorin Seeds fill the polytunnels at the Chateau with 30 – 40 types of tomato. Summer Sun, a miniature tomato is described as sublimely sweet. (The seed event takes place every other year so presumably 2011.)

In the interim – how about Somerset? Although not going into detail, the same writer puts the kitchen garden at Barrington Court right at the top of her wonderful gardens list.

In the meantime it might be time to test the topsy turvy tip of putting socks outside rather than inside shoes.  Seems odd that socks should provide grip and shoes not ….but then I’ve heard some people plant their tomatoes upside down and that works!
