Parham Garden Tomatoes

by Sally on July 29, 2010

An approach which should really only be swooped up in carriage and crinolines, an idyllic English setting to move you from car to swoon and a cool, stoned floor;  hot, white timbered glasshouse with cascading tomato wall. What more could you ask for ?

Interesting tomato varieties ?  Sungold, Rosada, Golden Sunrise, Green Zebra and Black Cherry. All of which, with the exception of Golden Sunrise (which Tomato Lover interviewee Linda is growing), are varieties I’m growing in my patch less palatial.

And in the potting shed shop – home (stately no less) grown produce to choose from . Including a tumbling ripe riot of the above varieties, packed into a deep glossy flower pot. Perfect for transporting tomatoes back to the cattle-pasture parked car; the gardener’s version of a bucket of handpicked shells, brought home from beach combed sands.

My previous encouter with Parham was in another lifetime otherwise known as a school trip! And whilst I didn’t remember details, I did remember the magic – which it still has – but now, for both me and the garden, with added tomatoes !

If you want to have a look/taste for yourself – it’s a lovely day out – or for an armchair trip (supply your own popcorn bucket of flower pot tomatoes) it’s going to be featured on BBC 2 Gardener’s World this Friday.
