Potato, Chipolata & Cherry Tomato Salad

Potato, Chipolata & Tomato Salad

On Tuesday I was away and missed posting. However travelling prompted some thoughts about the cost of food on the go and how it doesn’t always live up to its ‘lifestyle’ wrapper description.

With a delicious alternative in mind and to pass time whilst the passenger ahead of me rearranged his person and belongings for scanning I asked the security screener where salad dressing stood in the liquid and gel stakes.

Answer: fine if the salad were tossed; if in a container would need to fit into the normal 100ml max category.

Hmm….the random application of rules makes me think I might not test out these assertions. But for other more earthbound journeys I recommend this traveller’s lunch box treat.

Taken from River Cottage Everyday (good Christmas gift for cookery book addicts) it involves cold cooked new potatoes, cold cooked chipolatas, cherry tomatoes and a mustardy dressing (English mustard, white wine vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper and a pinch of sugar).

Trust in your ‘absolutely airtight …. liquid tight….’  Lock & Lock container and then one queue you won’t need to join is for an overwrapped, overchilled, overpriced lunch.
