Soggy Seasons

Tesco having found a problem to fit a solution – that of the non- leaking tomato for use in a non-soggifying tomato sandwich, I wonder if they could turn their attention to a more pressing and persistent problem. That of soggy seasons. Could we please have a non-leaking sky –  for at least some of the summer ?

At the moment gardening reminds me of all those long ago camping holidays when you were supposed to be enjoying nature at her benign and sunny best but were instead peering at her through tent flaps as fat rain drops plashed on your nose and instead of the expansive stretch that comes with being surrounded by the great outdoors were confined and constricted by strict instructions not to touch the sides of the tent.

As the song says; ‘there’s got to be a little rain sometime”. It’s looking better for the weekend, and at least you won’t have floppy plants for a few days.

I remember those wet camping holidays too; it felt so good to get home! I hope my plants aren’t feeling like that. Their poly-shelters took a bit of a battering in the wind; I had to re-tie a few poles and I secured a few more. But underneath, the plants are warm (well warm-ish!) and dry, and are definitely not allowed to touch the sides of the tent!

It was definately ‘glumping’ and not ‘glamping’ back then !
