Another winter feature. Tomato news from around the red-globe shaped world. I’ve no idea how much there might be on a weekly basis – I suspect on occasions very little. But that’s ok – I’m sure I can always find some beautiful tomato pictures to link to for a special illustrated ‘cut out and keep’ souvenir edition!
So why in which case I am leading today’s post with a fishy pic ?
To lead into this story – ‘Mitchells find fishy solution for tomato plants‘. Tomorite – pah! Seems what a growing tomato plant want is a few fish-heads lobbed its way. I guess it’s all just ‘fish, blood and bones’ at the end of the day – but it’s the first time I’ve come across a tip for using the fish straight as it comes. I wonder if they have urban foxes in Pike County ?
And then on tatermaterseeds.com I saw this beautiful photo of Green Zebra. There is something heroic and epic about this shot – I think it’s just beautiful.
And finally an article on the methodology of Dry-farmed tomatoes, more replicable by the commercial grower. But I did enjoy reading that they deliberately grow ‘leggy‘ seedlings as part of the approach (and then bury them up to their necks) – so next year if (when!) I end up with some etiolated plants I shall know how to pass them off ….
