Sun and watering can – the motifs for the past and coming weeks. A perfect combination.
The Growhouse has come down; it was becoming more cookhouse for the few plants still undercover. The space it freed up allowed me to move things around – big pots to the back fence where I think they’ll get more sun and seed compost bag ‘pots’ to the side of the shed.
I’d got last as well as this year’s to put to good use. I hadn’t been sure why I’d held onto them but had this feeling their 2nd purpose would reveal itself in time and it did. Last year I cut grow bags in half and upended them. These are this year’s equivalent but a whole bag which I’ve then filled with multi-purpose compost. The plastic’s more heavy duty than the stuff the growbags are made from. But they’re still very light to pick up and move around – especially if done before watering.
Let’s hope everyone’s happy in their new homes – improvised or not – and the sun continues to warm all those roots, shoots and fruits.

Wow, those plants are looking fantastic now. I like the marigolds scattered amongst the greenery, they give a nice splash of colour to your garden.
Wow. You are doing such a fantastic job. Your crop is very impressive once again this year!
Hello
Thank you ! It got off to a slow start – and like so many places we had such a cold winter and a not very warm spring – but the past 10 days or so have been amazing weather which has really speeded it all up. It’s now that long patient wait for the little green bobbles to turn into red globes !
They are certainly colourful ! Bit much at first – all that green and then just POW ! from the Marigolds. But now I’ve got used to them I really like them – I think they are meant to keep off white fly or aphids – but apparently its when the flowers are dead that they do this – so not so attractive !
