Tomatoes 2010. Week 20.

by Sally on August 9, 2010

This week’s harvest weighed in a 1.5 kg. Ripe varieties are Belriccio, Black Cherry, ConchitaGardeners Delight, Mini BelleTigerella and Yellow Balconi. Santorage has fruit ripe to pick – but I want to wait to see if I can get a whole truss orange (its ripe colour) before picking individual fruit.

I only had one Belriccio. The creased beefsteak, a bonsai Stallone of a fruit. To borrow from apple speak – they’re not really ‘eaters’ but ‘cookers’. I tried it as it came, but the skin separates off in your mouth as you eat it  – so one for the pot or grill.

( Oh and the pile of mostly, green tomatoes on the table – BER graveyard !)

Wow, those look fabulous – I wish i could reach into the screen and grab some! I’m glad your harvest is going pretty well, despite setbacks. :-)
