Tomatoes with Blue Cheese Dressing

by Sally on November 21, 2010

I like Blue Cheese – but never remember to eat it, by which I really mean, it’s too easy for cheese to mean cheddar. So when I saw this dressing made with blue cheese (and a couple of other ingredients that made me go: eh? I realise others may be a bit more to the point and go: yuck) I thought time to go blue.

The recipe is from Nigella’s new book Kitchen and she recommends it as a great dressing to go with tomatoes (whether you’re dressed or only dressing gowned when you eat it, is not specified).

This time I had the three elements of bread, tomatoes and dressing together but separate. Next time I think I’d toast some thick slices of sourdough bread, spread the dressing thickly on both sides of  the toasted bread and then squish the tomatoes in the middle. But and I say this before sharing the ingredients list – it is delicious and whilst not really Novemberish – could be kept in the back of your mind for those left at the back of the fridge seasonal Stilton bits ( just saying…)

So you will need ( enough for two handsome sarnies) 80g of blue cheese crumbled,  40 ml of runny yoghurt, 20 ml of milk and…. 1/2 a teaspoon each of Worcestershire Sauce, HP sauce and white wine vinegar…mash it all together and you have … a grey, lumpy mixture – which is why I think it might be more suited to hiding its blue light under a bushel and why today’s photo is small!
