Otherwise know as Mammoth Onion! There is something appealing about the word “mammoth”. Is it because it crops up in word association with “wooly” which makes it sound like an out of control hand-knit..? anyway for this seed company it’s teamed with the word onion and no less endearing for that… A family business based in Lancashire that’s been doing great and “mammoth” things for 151 years.

What’s the tomato offering? 24 varieties, lined up in no particular order and P&P seems to be free for seeds…

  • Yellow Currant/Red Currant/ Red Cherry/ Gardeners Delight/ Yellow Cherry/ Golden Sunrise/ Plumito/ Britain’s Breakfast/ Exhibition Stonor/ Vanessa F1/ Shirley F1/ Yellow Pear Shaped/ Jubilee/ Marglobe Beefsteak/ Brandy Wine/ Beefheart/ White Wonder/ Tumbler/ Black Prince/ Red Alert/ Tigerella/ Santa F1/ Sungold F1/ Golden Grape

And much as I love the poetry and picturesqueness of different names – I was also somehow taken by the plainess of Red Cherry, Yellow Cherry…so much more me than lorries !
